I spent nearly 20 years in Macomb schools as a classroom teacher, Reading Specialist, and Content Area Interventionist, working with readers from the early stages of learning to read through middle school.
My background also includes teaching literacy courses at Western Illinois University and coaching educators in reading instruction.
I created Reading Foundations because good reading support starts with understanding the reader in front of you.
I look at what a learner already knows, where reading is becoming difficult, and what kind of instruction will help them move forward. Then we build from there—adjusting support as the reader grows.
Because reading struggles can affect much more than reading, confidence, independence, and a sense of success matter too.
Reading support should fit the reader—not the other way around.
